East Palo Alto Roof Bee Removal

A few days ago we removed a gigantic colony of honey bees from a roof in East Palo Alto.
The FLIR thermal imager helped out immensely to pinpoint the location of the colony so that lots of drilling and sawing was not necessary and damage to the house was kept to a minimum. Luckily the colony could be approached from the side and cutting through the top of the roof and shingles was not necessary.
The colony had been in place for 2-3 years and when all was said and done I collected 5 gals of comb, 3 gallons of honey, and made a nuc box of 5 deeps of broodnest and bees.
